My Thoughts:
Seneca is wise and painfully accurate as always. Over the years, I’ve learned (sometimes the hard way) to become more selective about who I spend my time with. Life is genuinely too short for friendships that only drain or discourage. By focusing my energy on people who encourage my growth and whose company genuinely makes me a better (or at least less annoying) human being, I’ve felt significantly happier and more fulfilled.
Today’s Stoic Exercise:
Reflect honestly on your circle of friends or acquaintances today. Identify at least one person who genuinely brings positivity and growth into your life, and reach out to thank them or plan to spend more time together. Alternatively, if someone consistently drains your energy, consider setting healthier boundaries. Today, I’ll reconnect with someone whose optimistic and intelligent conversations always inspire me to do better. Remember, the company we keep truly shapes us.
About the Daily Stoic Quote & Exercise Series:
This daily series of Stoic quotes comes with a short, practical challenge—something all of us (myself included) can easily integrate into our day. Stoicism, at its core, is a practical philosophy. You can’t truly understand it just by reading—you have to practice it consistently. These daily exercises are designed to help us do exactly that: small steps, manageable tasks, and real-life application. Join in anytime, and let’s grow together.
