> “Wherever a person can live, there one can also live well.”
— Marcus Aurelius

My Thoughts:
There’s this stubborn belief I catch myself falling for repeatedly: that traveling somewhere new will magically solve all my problems. Marcus Aurelius would probably laugh at me from his imperial grave. The harsh truth he’s pointing out here? Wherever you go, your mindset follows you—stress, anxiety, and existential dread included. Changing scenery helps, sure, but genuine peace comes from within. Sadly, my suitcase never packs solutions, just socks and overpriced snacks.
Today’s Stoic Exercise:
Wherever you find yourself today: a train, plane, stuck at home, or wandering aimlessly – pause and take a moment to really appreciate your current location. Rather than wishing you were elsewhere, accept your environment fully. Focus on adapting your inner mindset instead of relying on external places to make you happy. I’ll personally take a quiet break, breathe deeply, and remind myself that happiness doesn’t depend on location, even when my GPS disagrees.
About the Daily Stoic Quote & Exercise Series:
This daily series of Stoic quotes comes with a short, practical challenge—something all of us (myself included) can easily integrate into our day. Stoicism, at its core, is a practical philosophy. You can’t truly understand it just by reading—you have to practice it consistently. These daily exercises are designed to help us do exactly that: small steps, manageable tasks, and real-life application. Join in anytime, and let’s grow together.
